Here’s an example of a SPEED MATH shortcut for CUBING NUMBERS NEAR 1000 : (Cub) Nr1000 from the CUBING AND CUBE ROOTS category.
When can I use this method?
For cubing numbers near 1000.
The number can be either < or > 1000.
One can use this method to cube numbers away from 1000 as long as it is comfortable to cube the difference portions.

Notes –
- This method uses the concept (1000 + a)3 = [(1000 + 3a) 10002] + [(3a2) 1000] + [a3], where ‘(1000 + a)’ is the number near 1000 and ‘a’ is the difference.
- Whenever the number is more than 1000, the difference is written as positive (+ve).
- Whenever the number is less than 1000, the difference is written as negative (-ve).
